Over the weekend, we cleaned out our garage and found several vases that were old and not so pretty. So, we decided to work on a fun little project and upcycled those vases. We have been seeing the paint and baking powder method all over Instagram and Pinterest, so we decided to give it a try.
We were inspired by Collective Gen and her creation of “Trash to Terracotta.” She shares three different methods:
- Terracotta Upcycle
- White Washing
- Ceramic Effect in Any Color
She provides full tutorials and you can see it by visiting her site.
Below, you will see our before and after using the DIY ceramic chalk paint method. Also, we are sharing a video by Collective Gen on how she upcycles her vases using this technique.
What You Will Need
- Paint Brush (textured finish) or Foam Brush (smooth finish)
- 1 Cup of Water Based Paint in Any Color
- 1 Tbsp. Baking Powder
- Stick to Mix
- Plastic Container

This is a great way to upcycle those unwanted vases, so you can finally use them in your home decor.
